The Kirkwood
Wild in Art

A Wild in Art event brought to you by The Kirkwood.

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers

At The Kirkwood, we so often rely on the generosity of volunteers to make our work possible. Their time is incredibly valuable to us and we’re fortunate enough to have a fantastic team of volunteers who so selflessly dedicate their spare hours to help raise essential funds for our cause, from the marshals at our key fundraising events, to retail staff who are critical to the success of our charity shops.

We are extremely grateful for the continued support of our volunteer network and wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has been there for us over the years, and to those who will return to offer a helping hand in the build-up to our highly anticipated Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees art trail.

If you haven’t heard the news already, a pack of uniquely decorated Snowdogs will be unleashed across Kirklees this Autumn, as part of a magical art event for thousands to enjoy. Whilst our Snowdog sculptures are set to headline the show, our volunteers are integral to its success.

Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees and The Kirkwood both have community at their core. While the art trail is all about connecting friends and families after years of hardship, its creation is motivated by the life-changing work of The Kirkwood, who provide round the clock support to those who need it across Kirklees. A charity cherished by many locally and beyond, you may already have a personal connection to The Kirkwood, and it’s nice to think that by donating your spare time to volunteering, you can give back to your community.

If Volunteers’ Week has inspired you to get involved in a local community project, we would love to have you join the Snowdogs team. There are a huge range of opportunities you can get involved with from distributing trail maps, to becoming a Snowdog ‘groomer’ – meaning you will be responsible for keeping our Snowdogs looking their best throughout the trail.

Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees officially launches to the public on September 2nd and will run for eight weeks, but we will also be looking for volunteers to assist us pre and post event, so we can build your volunteering time around a busy schedule!

To register you interest please complete the application form here on our volunteer page and a member of our team will get back to you shortly. With help from volunteers like yourself, The Kirkwood are able to continue supporting those in our community who need us the most.
