Huddersfield BID sponsor the Snowdogs art trail to help boost Kirklees’ profile across the region
As part of their mission to develop Huddersfield into an accessible, safe, attractive and vibrant destination town, Huddersfield BID has recently partnered with The Kirkwood to sponsor their highly anticipated Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees art trail, which will see 60 decorated sculptures popping up in public spaces across the borough this Autumn.
A brand new partnership for 2022, it was a natural decision for Huddersfield BID to join forces with The Kirkwood in time for this highly anticipated event. Designed to celebrate the very best of our community, it is hoped the art trail will provide the perfect opportunity for locals and visitors from further afield to explore more of our colourful Northern towns.
Joining as a sculpture sponsor and an event partner, the Huddersfield BID will be working with a talented artist to create a large snowdog, which will go on display in the BID zone in Huddersfield town centre. As event partner, the Huddersfield BID will be lending their expertise to The Kirkwood to help drive footfall and widen the reach of the trail. The team have put forward some fantastic ideas, including ‘Paint your own Snowdog’ workshops to inspire creativity. The workshops are set to run from the end of May and will see members of the public design and decorate their very own mini Snowdog to take home in exchange for a donation to The Kirkwood.
‘We wholeheartedly support The Kirkwood and Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees’, says Samantha Sharp, manager at the Huddersfield BID. ‘We wanted to become one of the first sponsors for the event as we believe the art trail will help showcase what a fantastic area we live in.’
Samantha continues: ‘Our hope is, that vital funds are raised for The Kirkwood, to enable them to continue their work within our community and provide essential care for people within the Kirklees region. I would encourage any business or organisation to put their support behind the art trail in any way they can, whether its through sponsorship, holding events, encouraging people to take part in the trail or bidding for a Snowdog at the end of the trail.’
Inspired by the much-loved animated film, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog, the sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book and film The Snowman™, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees, this public art trail will launch in September 2022 and be live for eight weeks.
Organised by The Kirkwood in partnership with Wild in Art and Snowman Enterprises Ltd, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will be a free large scale art event and will show off the very best creative talent from local, regional and national artists. As part of this one-of-a-kind public art event in West Yorkshire, businesses are being given the opportunity to sponsor one of the individually designed Snowdog sculptures. This presents businesses with a unique and exciting way to promote their business throughout the local area.
The trail will help raise awareness and essential funds for The Kirkwood as they continue their work to help and support those living with a life limiting illness in Kirklees, while encouraging visitors from far and wide to explore new parts of our region.
Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will launch in September 2022.
