Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) has joined our highly anticipated art trail in the hope it will inspire our community to get out and about as they explore our many wonderful towns and villages.
As part of their mission to help people become more active and adopt a healthy lifestyle, KAL offers a wide range of services at its 13 sports and fitness facilities across the borough, including over 500 fitness classes a week, gym access, swimming pools, a great range of family attractions (under the Yeah Days Out! brand) and even a golf course.
Signing up to the trail as a large sculpture sponsor, KAL have selected the final design for their Snowdog and will be sharing sneak previews of their choice over the coming months. To boost trail awareness, KAL will also be helping to spread the word by promoting the art trail in their various leisure centres.
Dawn Stephenson, Chair of the Board of Trustees at KAL comments: ‘We are delighted to support The Kirkwood and their fantastic Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees campaign. As well as helping to raise funds for a great local charity, we know that the project will provide an added element of interest and excitement for our customers, especially our younger visitors, encouraging them to visit their local KAL site and others across the district to get a glimpse of one or more of these wonderful sculptures.’
The trail can be enjoyed by solo adventurers and walking enthusiasts, but it also poses a great opportunity for families and friends alike to discover more of what our region has to offer.
Inspired by the much-loved animated film, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog, the sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book and film The Snowman™, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will bring the magic of The Snowdog character to life through an extraordinary public art trail.
Organised by The Kirkwood in partnership with Wild in Art and Snowman Enterprises Ltd, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees is a free large scale art event and will show off the very best creative talent from local, regional and national artists. As part of this one of a kind public art event in West Yorkshire, businesses are being given the opportunity to sponsor one of the individually designed Snowdog sculptures. This presents businesses with a unique and exciting way to promote their business throughout the local area.
The trail will help raise awareness and essential funds for The Kirkwood as they continue their work to help and support those living with a life limiting illness in Kirklees, while encouraging visitors from far and wide to explore new parts of our region.
Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will launch in September 2022.
