Return of the pack: The Snowdogs head back to The Kirkwood for pre-trail prep

DHL deliver Snowdogs to the painting space

We’ve had a very exciting few weeks at Snowdogs HQ. Our ‘boarding kennels’ are getting more and more vibrant by the day as the sculptures make their return to The Kirkwood in all their decorated glory.

Over the next month our team of paw-tographers will be taking pictures of every Snowdog set to join the trail, from the large sculptures which are sponsored by local businesses to the Snowdog pups which have been designed by talented school and college students. These photographs will be used to tell the tale of each design, with their story being shared far and wide across the Snowdogs app, the website, the trail map and more.

We wanted to say thank you to our wonderful sponsors, DHL and Illingworth & Gregory (I&G) for making this possible. Volunteers from both companies have generously donated their time to make delivery arrangements and have allowed us to use their fleets to ferry the sculptures from the painting space and various schools back to The Kirkwood. Thanks to their dedication to getting our sculptures from A to B, we are now well on the way to bringing you the best public art trail the region has ever seen!

As official Logistics Partner for the art trail, DHL have been on hand to support us at various stages of the decoration process. DHL dropped the sculptures off at our collaborative painting space in Huddersfield Town Centre, ready for painting, and have even made national deliveries to artists who are decorating their Snowdog from their home studio – travelling as far as Scotland, Wales and Brighton (and everywhere in between!), before safely returning them to The Kirkwood. The company will be critical in the delivery and install of the sculptures as they make their way to their trail locations.

I&G have been assisting with the collection and delivery of Snowdog pups to schools across the region, and the team have had the chance to witness firsthand the impact the art trail is having on the children who are incredibly excited to be taking part in this fun filled, creative community event which is set to attract thousands of visitors.

Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees officially launches to the public on this Autumn and will run for eight weeks. The art trail is set to be the largest free event of its kind to ever come to West Yorkshire.
