Much like the work of The Kirkwood, The Mid Yorkshire Hospital NHS Trust is committed to providing compassionate care to the people of Kirklees. The Trust is responsible for supporting over half a million people throughout the borough and beyond, carrying out a duty of care in people’s homes, out in the community and at its three hospital sites in Dewsbury, Pontefract and Pinderfields.
Signing up to Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees as a large sculpture sponsor, the Trust will be using the art trail as an opportunity to raise its profile across Dewsbury and to be seen as an active and essential part of the community.
A very fitting cause to get involved in, Mid Yorkshire’s goal is in keeping with that of The Kirkwood, which is to improve the quality of life for local people, against all odds, by ensuring excellent patient experience through respectful, compassionate care. This means that while everyone has unique requirements, the Trust aims to put the individual needs of its patients first to ensure the greatest levels of satisfaction.
Len Richards, Chief Executive at The Mid Yorkshire Hospital NHS Trust (pictured) comments: ‘We strive to achieve an excellent patient experience and ensure quality of care is at the heart of everything we do so we can make a difference to the lives of patients and their families.
‘We were keen to sponsor a Snowdog to show our continuous support for the positive things The Kirkwood do every day by focusing on what’s important. We hope the Dewsbury Snowdog will make more people aware of the wider range of services offered by The Kirkwood to support patients, carers and family members at every stage of illness.’
Inspired by the much-loved animated film, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog, the sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book and film The Snowman™, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will bring the magic of The Snowdog character to life through an extraordinary public art trail.
Organised by The Kirkwood in partnership with Wild in Art and Snowman Enterprises Ltd, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will be a free large scale art event and will show off the very best creative talent from local, regional and national artists. As part of this one of a kind public art event in West Yorkshire, businesses are being given the opportunity to sponsor one of the individually designed Snowdog sculptures. This presents businesses with a unique and exciting way to promote their business throughout the local area.
The trail will help raise awareness and essential funds for The Kirkwood as they continue their work to help and support those living with a life limiting illness in Kirklees, while encouraging visitors from far and wide to explore new parts of our region.
Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will launch in September 2022.
