Leading train travel operator in the North, TransPennine Express, have signed up to become a large sculpture sponsor for the Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees art trail, which will arrive in our region on 2nd September 2022.
Committed to connecting people, businesses and cities across the North, TransPennine Express shares one specific core value with the trail – bringing people together as a way to help the economy grow. Similarly, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will bring new visitors into our towns and villages from far and wide, who will be able to explore the many colourful hidden gems that Kirklees has to offer.
This isn’t the first time TransPennine Express has been involved in a Wild in Art project. Back in 2018, the company sponsored a sculpture in the ‘Bee in the City’ trail in Manchester. After seeing how successful the trail was, the company was keen to support another trail.
The rail operator has recently selected their favourite design from a wide variety of options, submitted by artists up and down the country. Their chosen design will be hand-painted by the artist onto a giant Snowdog sculpture and placed on location along the trail to be admired by tens of thousands of visitors.
Darren Higgins, Commercial Director for TransPennine Express said: “We are thrilled to be sponsoring a sculpture as part of the upcoming Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees art trail.
“We are proud to serve communities across Kirklees and are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the art trail on to our trains this September.”
Inspired by the much-loved animated film, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog, the sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book and film The Snowman™, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will bring the magic of The Snowdog character to life through an extraordinary public art trail.
Organised by The Kirkwood in partnership with Wild in Art and Snowman Enterprises Ltd, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will be a free large scale art event and will show off the very best creative talent from local, regional and national artists. As part of this one-of-a-kind public art event in West Yorkshire, businesses are being given the opportunity to sponsor one of the individually designed Snowdog sculptures. This presents businesses with a unique and exciting way to promote their business throughout the local area.
The trail will help raise awareness and essential funds for The Kirkwood as they continue their work to help and support those living with a life limiting illness in Kirklees, while encouraging visitors from far and wide to explore new parts of our region.
Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will launch in September 2022.
