Dewsbury-based greeting card and gift wrap supplier, UK Greetings, is the next company to join forces with The Kirkwood to welcome thousands of new visitors to Kirklees later this year, in a move to boost to community spirit within the region.
Supporting the cause as a large sculpture sponsor, UK Greetings will work with one of several talented artists to create a showstopping design to add to their Snowdog, ready to take to the streets of Kirklees. The greeting card company chose their design from a range of submissions at a recent art selection event and will soon unveil which talented artist they will partner with.
Alongside claiming their own large Snowdog, UK Greetings have also signed up as a school sponsor, which will see the company support a local primary school to participate in the art trail. This collaborative learning project will see children work together to design their very own Snowdog pup which will also be placed along the trail.
One of the leading greeting card manufacturers in the UK, the company’s vision is to spread messages of love, happiness and laughter through a wide range of products, which is akin to the aims of the Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees event.
Claire Rusby, HR Director, UK Greetings Ltd comments: ‘A key focus for us this year is to build strong partnerships within our community, to make a difference to the people who live and work in our local area. Along with schools and colleges, we are working with local charities to support their lifechanging work. Last year, funds from our Summer Party were given to The Kirkwood as one of the charities chosen by a colleague, so we know it’s a charity close to their hearts.’
‘We look forward to developing our relationship with The Kirkwood and particularly love that the event aligns perfectly with our purpose which is to create happiness, laughter and love through our greeting cards. This event is a way of bringing people together to celebrate the creativity and sentiment behind the art trail, all while supporting a great charity.’
Inspired by the much-loved animated film, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog, the sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book and film The Snowman™, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will bring the magic of The Snowdog character to life through an extraordinary public art trail.
Organised by The Kirkwood in partnership with Wild in Art and Snowman Enterprises Ltd, Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will be a free large scale art event and will show off the very best creative talent from local, regional and national artists. As part of this one-of-a-kind public art event in West Yorkshire, businesses are being given the opportunity to sponsor one of the individually designed Snowdog sculptures. This presents businesses with a unique and exciting way to promote their business throughout the local area.
The trail will help raise awareness and essential funds for The Kirkwood as they continue their work to help and support those living with a life limiting illness in Kirklees, while encouraging visitors from far and wide to explore new parts of our region.
Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees will launch in September 2022.
